Our Early History

It's not every small and wide-spread community that has its own established center to bring residents together to share interests - from local clubs to entertainment and resources.  Below are a few highlight from the past - as well as ongoing activities and recent additions - but we're not done! The Center is open to new ideas and resources for community service.

Along with hosting community groups and events, The Center serves as a local site when weather and events call for emergency attention.  It also addresses local needs such as food distribution and fund raising for causes that impact our communities and neighborhoods. For example, in 1992 when the Cleveland Fire threatened our region, the Community Center became a hub of activity for firefighters and residents potentially in harms way. The following year, a memorial to the pilots killed in the firefight was installed, and the tradition of Logging Days was revived.

A Landmark Celebration

In 2006, Community volunteers gathered to celebrate a historic event by putting a match to the newly paid-off mortgage on the building.

Below is a short list of highlights from the rich history of the role served by the Community Center.
