After the Caldor fire, local artist Darby Patterson had a vision to create a permanent tribute to those who fought the fire. Darby’s many talents include bronze sculpture and she chose this medium for her tribute panels. It’s been almost a five year journey to bring this monument to fruition. Thanks to all of the folks who donated to the fundraisers, without whom this would not have been possible. The El Dorado County Fire Protection District welcomed the monument at Station 17. Doug Veerkamp graciously donated the labor and expertise for the foundation. Greg Duncan designed and built the monument wall, and he did a great job showcasing the panels.
